Jumbo-Visma tied to top talent as launch of women’s team nears

Dutch cycling outlet Cycling Opinions reports that Jumbo-Visma is working on putting together a women’s team that will launch in 2021.

According to the report, sponsors Jumbo and Visma and incoming bike partner Cervélo requested the creation of the women’s squad.

This is not the first time news has emerged of Jumbo-Visma’s ambitions to add a women’s team, but plans were delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic. Now, the squad is reportedly ramping up its efforts to have something in place for next season.

Jumbo-Visma is apparently angling to bring on either Marianne Vos or Annemiek van Vleuten as team leader. The team is said to have been interested in Anna van der Breggen and Chantal van den Broeck-Blaak as well, but both recently renewed with Boels-Dolmans.

Jumbo-Visma has reportedly already been in talks with Marianne Vos.

Esra Tromp, who recently worked with Parkhotel Valkenburg, is set to manage the team, with Cycling Opinions reporting that some kind of “collaboration” between the two teams could be possible with Parkhotel Valkenburg potentially serving as a development team.
