Egan Bernal leaves intensive care
Egan Bernal is set to leave intensive care almost two weeks after the bus collision that left him with 20 fractures, and requiring multiple surgeries.
The Clínica Universidad de La Sabana in Bogotá, Colombia, has been providing regular updates on the young Colombian since his admittance on January 24. After undergoing a second successful spinal procedure on Wednesday, Bernal’s “last major surgery”, the latest medical report has good news.
“From a medical point of view and given [Bernal’s] improvement and clinical progression, the patient will be discharged from the ICU and transferred to the general hospital wing,” said hospital director Juan Guillermo Ortiz Martínez. “At the same time, we continue to closely monitor his treatment and progression.”
