United Arab Emirates (CT) – Due to concerns over coronavirus, the UAE Tour is reported to have been cancelled.

As of Thursday night, authorities have asked teams, staff and media at the race to remain in their hotels. The race has apparently been cancelled over coronavirus concerns, with individual health checks being conducted now.

Official confirmation is still pending from race organisers, but Jumbo-Visma has tweeted the following:

Gazetta is reporting that two Team UAE masseurs are suspected of having feverish symptoms, leading to the alarm.

CyclingTips reporter, Dane Cash, is in attendance at the race and says that teams are in one hotel, and media and other staff in another hotel. “We can’t leave our hotel, and neither can anyone else – not just race people; the hotel is on lockdown,” Cash says. “I’m told individual checks are being conducted on teams right now.”
