Dramatic, intense, and incredible. These are the words to describe the men’s road race at the cycling world championships. The foul weather ruled for most of the race making the roads a true inferno.

The Castelli equipped, Italian National Road Team, with the Italian ‘Commissario Tecnico’, Paolo Bettini, had the occasion to visit for the first time the course of the UCI Road World Championships where this year’s titles will be awarded.

For the Women’s Olympic Road Race, World Champion Giorgia Bronzini believes the women’s road race might prove to be a tense, tactical affair, something which she feels could play to her advantage.

Pulling on a World Road Championships Rainbow Jersey must be one of the greatest feelings ever! But to do it twice…well!

Dressed in Castelli colors, Italy’s Giorgia Bronzini claimed her second women’s elite World Championship road title in a row. The Italian beat Marianne Vos (Netherlands) and Ina-Yoko Teutenberg (Germany) to the line.

“This second World Championship win is certainly the one that feels the best. Last year’s win was such a big surprise: I had started with no pressure and was working for the others early in the race. Bronzini said to Castelli.

This year’s World Championship has been described as a sprinter’s course, but the Italian ‘Commissario Tecnico’, team manager of the Italian national squad, Paolo Bettini has warned that any eventual winner on September 25th will have to be far more than just a fast finisher. Earlier this year, Paolo Bettini made a trip to the Danish capital to get the first impression of the race course.

Speaking yesterday, Bettini said, “The World Championships circuit is not really complicated – only the final is complicated. But if it is raining or windy, it will be a really hard race.”
