The winters officially started, while I’m sat here writing this blog outside the rains lashing against the windows and the sun never quite rears its head, and to top it off yesterday was the first day of a thick frost. Its days like this when venturing outside on the bike doesn’t seems quite as appealing as it did why back in the summer. A summer that already feels a light year away when all you needed to kit up was shorts and a jersey. This time of year you need that extra little push, that bit of encouragement to get out the door. Luckily for me that little bit of push came in the form of a some fresh winter clothing, here was an excuses to get kitted up and see what a grim British winter could throw at a few pieces of the new Castelli range. Please don’t read this as review blog, that would be foolish. Castelli is dedicated to making the fastest clothing in the world. We know that race results come through relentless attention to the smallest of details. So we approach every garment questioning how we can make it faster. We do the basic research, then we test the concepts internally, then we test them with Team Garmin-Cervélo and in the wind tunnel. Only then are they available in Castelli’s Servizio Corse program. And you can have the exact same pieces as Team Garmin-Cervélo. Not less expensive replicas, but the exact same pieces made using the same fabrics, components, fit and finish, by the same people who produce the pieces you see on the pros on TV. If you’re serious about your cycling, and serious enough to want to turn those many thousands of kilometers of training into race results, here’s your clothing : WWW.SERVIZIOCORSE.COM

Ryder Hesledal will not only be reaping the benefits of his lightweight Cervélo R5ca bike on the epic Giro mountain stages, the super light weight and quick drying Castelli Inferno shorts and Climbers jersey gave him an extra advantage in the big mountains. CLIMBERS JERSEY – its almost impossible to see the difference between the Garmin Aero Race jersey and the Climbers jersey on television. Made from our super light weight Strada Light 3D mesh, and an aero Velocity fabric, it’s cut to hug the torso and to eliminate any excess fabric flapping when battling into the wind. It’s 90 grams of next-to-nothing, our quickest drying jersey ever, and it gives up just 3 watts at 40 km/h compared to the Aero Race jersey. Super light weight and fast drying Strada Light 3D mesh.
