Women’s Fashion Round up from EUROBIKE 2016

The 2017 season will soon be upon us so we took the opportunity to check out what we can expect in the world of mountain biking fashion for the discerning lady cyclist.

Eurobike is the home of the newly launched biking product, the Milan fashion week of the cycling world. Dancers perform wearing the latest cycling designs, disregarding the discomfort they must be suffering from doing high leg kicks while wearing padded cycling shorts.
There has been a significant shift in women’s fashion in recent years with designers genuinely considering the needs and shape of women. Often all women want is well shaped, flattering, practical, technically excellent clothing in a wide range of colour and sizes, not in pink but with pink options, offering the same range size as men and available everywhere – is it really that much to ask? As one of the biggest growth areas in mountain biking, women are getting offered more and more options and we welcome them all to the market place.

We took the opportunity to get a preview of the styles and colours that will be adorning shop hangars come the new year.

Maloja launch retro inspired range for the mountain loving woman

1960’s style batik gets a modern cut and tech fabric for the 2017 Maloja range.
1960’s style batik gets a modern cut and tech fabric for the 2017 Maloja range.

Maloja, the ‘Alps’ based brand have gone all 60’s hippy style with their tie-dye style jersey. The pattern on their batik enduro jersey is replicated from some actual batik and transferred to the high tech fabric before manufacture. Available in a more pink hue with inspirational slogans on the waist grip-strip – it’s ideal for riding and just chillin’ out man!
Maloja, like many other brands are starting to make concessions to e-biking. The Spielberg Glacier windproof jacket is super slim all over but has a primaloft chest covering for protection against the wind when you’re going a little faster than normal and generating a little less heat than you would on a normal bike. We think it would make a good layer on an all-mountain bike too.

Waterproof? check. Lightweight? check. Stylish? check. On top of wish list? check!

Primaloft warmth for anyone looking for a bit of torso warmth but not an all over thermal jacket - and it looks ace.

Maloja have been working with Gore and getting their hands on new fabrics early on. Their range-leading waterproof jacket is bold but understated. It is cut for riding, giving you more space in the shoulders when you’re in the attack position and lower at the back. A quality feeling piece from Maloja.
