Team Tested: SCOTT Trail Boa EVO Shoes Review

The requirements of a bike shoe are very unique to the area of usage. For shoes which get used for tours and long day trips, comfort and performance are everything, and the feeling of connection to the pedal is important too. Scott claims to have a true all-rounder in their range: the SCOTT Trail Boa EVO. We have now tested the shoe for several months for you, and are now ready to report back on our experiences:

Der Scott Trail Boa EVO ist für einen Preis von 119,90€ erhältlich.
The SCOTT Trail Boa EVO is available for a price of 119.95€ and weighs about 420g (Size 43).

On first contact with the gray-green Boa Trail EVO shoe, the lacing immediately catches your eye. As the name suggests SCOTT does not use classic laces, instead they rely on the patented Boa system. An extremely thin cord is drawn and locked by a ratchet. This system should guarantee particularly firm fitting without pressure peaks.
For the upper SCOTT relies on Airmesh and synthetic nubuck leather, with welded reinforcements on the most vulnerable locations. The sole is made of aggressive “Sticki” rubber compound paired with nylon strips for good walking performance.

The tightening of the shoe is done in a jiffy thanks to Boa system. A strong positive about this system is that you can correct the strength of the lock with one hand once you have clicked in the pedal. This was usually necessary shortly after tour starts to tighten the shoe a little bit more, but then it fits like a glove for the rest of the day. br>

With the help of the Boa system tightening the Scott shoes is done in no time.

The rails for mounting the cleat are well positioned, making it possible to slide the cleats far back. Particularly riders with a flat-pedal background will appreciate this because the foot can be placed more efficiently on the pedal.

Even after countless tours with some long hiking passages the shoe shows no signs of wear.
The sole of the SCOTT Trail Boa Evo when compared with a cross-country race shoe is not very stiff, but thus offers great comfort and good grip.

The sole of the SCOTT Trail Boa Evo is not overly stiff, so the shoe can also be walked in comfortably. The profile offers lots of grip and a secure hold. The removable EVA ErgoLogic insole supports the foot and guarantees (together with the lacing system) a secure fit.

The welded reinforcements are still in great shape after 4 months of usage.

We tested the shoe in combination with the Shimano XT Trail pedal. Here it offered a very good, secure footing and a solid power transfer.

Mit Hilfe des Boa-System ist das Anziehen des Trail Boa Evo im Nu erledigt.
The many ventilation openings ensure a comfortable fit, but do not provide protection from rain and moisture. Another positive note is that the shoe dries very quickly.

Facts:

  • Modell: SCOTT Trail Boa EVO
  • Price: 119,95 €
  • Weight: 420g (Shoe / Size. 43)

Conclusion:

The SCOTT Trail Boa Evo impressed us! They have good ventilation, a comfortable sole unit and sophisticated Boa system. Despite the airy design they offered more than enough safety to the toe. So far we have seen no considerable wear and so the €119.95 shoes should offer long lasting fun.
