Review: RockShox Reverb Stealth – Dropper Seatpost
The first RockShox Reverb was a game changer, taking the comfort, control, and action of dropper seatposts to a whole new level, influencing the development of the other seatposts in this test.

We tested the latest “Stealth” model with 150 mm of travel and internal cable routing, which can be purchased at a price of 375 Euros. The unique feature of the Reverb is the hydraulic remote lever. Instead of relying on wire cables like all the other posts, RockShox uses oil-filled hydraulics to control the Reverb’s action. The result is a smooth and compact lever design that allows for supremely comfortable adjustment and infinite clamping. If you are riding Avid brakes, you can mount the Reverb remote, gear shifters and brake lever directly onto the MatchMaker X-Clamp – a very neat solution!
The extension speed is also adjustable via the handlebar remote, which is another convenient feature! However, hydraulic control does have its drawbacks too: any repairs (e.g. after a crash) always involve the bleeding of the entire system, and are therefore a lot more time-consuming than repairs to dropper posts actuated by steel cables.
As soon as everything is correctly bled and mounted, the Reverb scores with its low profile remote and precise function and gave us no reason to complain. There was no sign of lateral or vertical play. Depending on frame height and design, the 150 mm long travel post is a real blessing. Nevertheless, everyone should check in advance if travel of this size is really necessary or even possible – longer does not always mean better! Naturally, the Reverb is also available with less travel. A version with external cable routing to the seatpost head is also available.
