Mountainbikers of Santa Cruz: “OWN THE FLOW” Fundraising Campaign
Mountain Bikers of Santa Cruz (MBoSC) is proud to announce a successful start to fundraising efforts for the highly anticipated 4 mile flow trail to be built in Soquel Demonstration State Forest (SDSF).
Ibis Cycles of Santa Cruz has generously offered the choice between their brand new Ripley 29 or highly popular Mojo HD to the lucky winner of a fundraising campaign that runs through April 30, 2013. Proceeds from this raffle will go toward the money needed to build this bike-specific trail, which will be the very first in the Bay Area to be built on public land. The trail will feature a 6-7 percent grade, 38 switchbacks, net elevation loss of 1280′ and a progressive bike skills area.
A flow trail is a purposely built trail for mountain bikes which emphasizes speed and rhythm and contains linked berms and rollers with some constructed features. The course is designed in a way that effectively utilizes the rider’s momentum to minimize pedaling and braking, offering an overall feel of a downhill pump track.
The Flow Trail at Demo is designed to cross Tractor Trail in 5 places. A former single track trail favored for its fast and flow-y feel, Tractor Trail reverted to its original function as a timber harvesting road in summer of 2011. As part of the Timber Harvesting Plan (THP), SDSF offered MBoSC the opportunity to build a new trail. Although so ambitious a plan was not foreseen, MBoSC’s proven track record has inspired confidence in the project. Previous projects in connection with SDSF include trail building/maintenance, fundraising (raised $6,000 for parking lot improvements) and the first-ever race at SDSF, the Santa Cruz Super Enduro (SCSE).

Ripley or Mojo HD for the win
The Flow Trail at Demo can be supported by buying a piece of it via the Own the Flow campaign for $5. One lucky winner will be chosen at random from all of the people who have purchased a piece of the flow trail. The winner will receive their choice of an Ibis Ripley 29 or Mojo HD. The more chunks of trail purchased increases the chances of winning. FOX, Shimano and Easton Cycling have offered their support by equipping the Ripley frame with their excellent components.
This campaign is opened worldwide. Learn more about Ibis and the Own the Flow campaign.
