Hottest Products From The 2017 Core Bike Show – Day 1

For 3 days only, the entire UK Bike industry makes it’s annual pilgrimage to Whittlebury Hall for the CORE bike show. While most 2017 bikes have already been released, there are always a few surprises and awesome products still to find. We popped down to have a sniff around and see if we could turn over anything exciting.

Evil The Calling

Buying a new EVIL Calling would be a foolish and irresponsible thing to do! I mean, just look at it! This is a bike that wants to get you in trouble. The little brother to the wild Evil Following, don’t be thinking this bike is ‘the quiet one’. Rocking 130 mm of rear travel from a Delta linkage, the 27.5 wheels and full carbon frame with sculpted rubber downtube protectors screams quality. With a 65.8-degree head angle and an 1193 mm wheelbase in size Large, it looks like a bike that could bite, we hope it does.

DMR Sled

Just like this year’s world politics, DMR just delivered a blow that nobody was expecting. Their new 160 mm travel aluminium SLED was the surprise of the show and certainly looks ready to party. With 27.5 inch wheels and a unique Virtual Pivot Orbit link, DMR are keen to stress the bikes formidable stiffness and ‘shredability’. The numbers look good too, boasting a 65.5-degree head angle, 462.3 (L) reach and tight 430 mm chainstays, it looks like a bike to get wild on. Being DMR, durability and serviceability should also be on point, and we love the integrated Syntace tool in the rear axle. The coolest thing is the price, in a world of millionaire builds the £1599 frame and £3499 full build price seems very reasonable. Full review coming soon.

Ragley Big Wig

It’s a fact, everyone should have a hardtail in their biking quiver. No, they’re not as comfortable, as fast or as capable as a full suspension bike, but nothing can beat that visceral, raw riding experience they deliver. The Ragley Big Wig looks like our kind of hardtail, 29-inch wheels, a 4130 butted Chromoly steel frame and huge space at the back for running tyres up to 3 inches. The good news continues with a 65-degree head angle, 1180 mm wheelbase (large) and all delivered for only £449.99 for the frame. We would ride this bike until our knees explode.
