E*thirteen TRS Race SL – light wheels, cranks and chain guides for trail riders
How do you measure the value of a product? In the case of the brand new E*thirteen TRS Race SL wheelset, the bill works out more or less at one Euro per gram. These fine carbon wheels weigh 1,690 g in the 27.5” version and cost € 1,699. But 29er riders shouldn’t worry too much as the 29” version might well be slightly heavier (1.733 g) but also sells for the same retail price as the 27.5” version. The wheels measure 28 mm inner-width and are available in both 100×15 mm and 110×15 mm options for the front wheel as well as 142 and 148 mm for the rear one. The hub is entirely made of aluminium and makes the typical E*thirteen noise.
Also new in the E*thirteen portfolio is the TRS Race SL crank. This carbon crank only weighs 409 g (without the chainring) and is meant to be stiff and stable enough to cater for the needs of ambitious trail riders. Any sort of disassembling problem is history with the TRS SL as the crank features E*Thirteen’s integrated self-extractor. The crank fits both 142 mm or 148 mm hub standards. The offset of the chainring can easily be adjusted with a spacer. The price for all of this, € 429.
Also the new E*thirteen TRS RACE SL chain-guide is extremely light. It only weighs 26 g and fits all chainrings between 28 and 38 teeth. The baseplate is made of carbon and the actual guide features a robust rubber-coating that reduces noise build-up. The price: about € 2 per gram or € 51, depending on your mood.
