Dream job: social media manager for DOWNTOWN and GRAN FONDO
Despite the social and economic impact of the Coronavirus outbreak, we’ve been incredibly busy managing all the growth of our bicycle magazines. Bikes are booming and so is our company! That’s why we are expanding our team and are looking for a social media manager either on a freelance basis.
To further expand and fortify the strong market position of our magazines, we’re looking to hire a social media manager for GRAN FONDO and our new DOWNTOWN. Here’s the thing: we produce an extraordinary amount of images and content but don’t have the time to sift through all of the material and post it on social media ourselves. And that’s exactly where you come in: As our social media manager, you’ll be working closely with our editorial team to plan, create and publish Instagram-specific post-concepts with our diverse content. Always with your finger on the pulse of the scene, you’ll be among the first to hear about the most exciting news and unreleased products and help shape our social media presence while informing and inspiring the bike scene.
To fill this challenging and exciting position, we’re not necessarily looking for a qualified social media manager, but rather for a keen, fast-learning Instagram wizard who shares our “doer” mentality and our visceral passion for (urban) cycling. It goes without saying that we expect you to have a fine sense of aesthetics too! The good news for all those who wish to apply but don’t live in our area: if you get the job, you can stay where you are and work from where you feel most comfortable.
If you get the job, these will be your tasks: …
- Preparing our content for Instagram
- Maintaining our Instagram channels in a reliable, creative and independent manner.
- Planning our Instagram strategy with a creative mind and an eye towards the future – together with us, of course!
- As an option, creating content for our social media channels
The skills the job requires:
- Social media experience
- Good knowledge of the road, gravel, urban lifestyle scenes
- Efficient, reliable and independent work approach
- Above average ability and willingness to learn
- Flexible working hours: occasional work / availability on weekends (e.g. breaking news)
- Multitasking
- ”Doer” mentality
- Fast and effective communication
- Good language skills
- Very good English skills (spoken and written)
- Helpful, but not absolutely necessary:
- Basic knowledge of Lightroom / Photoshop
- Experience with photography
about us
If you’re after a basic job with a corporate mindset, you’re in the wrong place! We see ourselves as a team of “doers” with high standards, strong visions and fun, unusual ideas – a bunch of active, dynamic and like-minded people who’re living out their passions. As romantic as this may sound, it also implies a high degree of professionalism, flexibility and good structure. If you want to achieve and accomplish something in your (work) life and are looking for a sustainable and fulfilling job, you’re on the right listing. If you ask us, everyday work quality is just as important as the final result – and we’re not talking about our shiny barista machine and stylish Vitra chairs, but the familiar and very constructive working atmosphere, where big egos, professional snobbery and personal vanity have no place.
Anyone in our core team of nearly 30 passionate professionals knows exactly that we’re not working to please our managers or optimise profits, but because we’re in love with our job. With offices in Scotland, the Bavarian Alps and the heart of Swabia (Leonberg near Stuttgart), we’re based in three strong locations with excellent riding terrain and superb connections for our international productions. We are an international family and self-made company with an impressive history.
Throughout the current Corona crisis, we’ve broken all records and achieved growth rates of around 100-180% per magazine. With a strong vision for the future, our new DOWNTOWN magazine as well as other new exciting projects, we will make a difference in society and, of course, in the bike industry over the coming years. Jump on board and become a part of it!
