Backpack highlights from Eurobike 2016
Complete pack-splitters: some hate them while others won’t go for a ride without one strapped firmly onto their torso. But let’s be honest: backpacks are pretty essential if you’re planning to be out for longer than a couple of hours. To make your life easier, we scoured the aisles of EUROBIKE looking for the latest, coolest and least offensive backpacks to hit the market.
CamelBak K.U.D.U. 8l, new Crux reservoir and more Lowrider models
Synonymous with well-designed hydration backpacks, CamelBak led a revolution on the market when they first set up shop. Having now vigorously refined the backpacks at the brand’s core, they’ve gone one step further and looked at how best to improve the hydration bladders. By expanding the diameter of the drinking tube for the Crux reservoir, it now provides 20% more fluid through the tube with each sip. The Crux also features a new ergonomically improved handle and cap to make refilling even easier. It’s available as a 1.5 l, 2 l and 3 l reservoir as well as a 3 l lumber version.
CamelBak have also broadened their collection of Low Rider backpacks, specifically designed for load carrying with lumbar design that keeps a low centre of gravity. The M.U.L.E. and H.A.W.G. are the two latest models to sport this design, which is said to increase the rider’s stability. There are compression straps that can be tightened over the hydration bladder to prevent the water from sloshing around.
Last but not least they’ve also launched a smaller version of the well-known K.U.D.U. protective backpack, which now comes in an 8-litre version with all the standard features and a retail price of € 169.
