One of Kona’s unwritten rules is: „Never bet against the champions of last year!“ In the end the race starts with a gunshot and equal opportunity for all athletes this Saturday. Last year’s race proved that being an outsider need not be a disadvantage when Andreas Raelert, whom only a few had on the radar on that day, stormed to 2nd place. Timothy O’Donnell, who especially set accents on the bike, finished 3rd. Not winning the race last year doesn’t necessarily mean that there won’t be promising perspectives to make a mark on race day. Castelli has left nothing to chance in providing our athletes the most functional and aerodynamic apparel for Hawaii’s extreme conditions. Depending on your personal preference, they will race in customized Sanremo Suits, T1:Stealth Tops or Free two-piece kits. Make sure to follow our Facebook triathlon page and instagram account during race week for latest Kona news and a chance to win exclusive prizes. Many top stars of the tri scene no longer want to race without short-sleeved kits. Castelli offers several short-sleeved options to accommodate different weather conditions or personal preferences. Athletes who prefer a two-piece combo will have another option for 2017. While the updated T1:Stealth Top 2 is a no-compromise piece specially designed for the bike leg, the all-new Free Speed Race Jersey is meant to be worn for the entire race, from start to finish. The short-sleeved construction ensures good aerodynamics on the bike and provides additional sun protection. UNRESTRICTED FREEDOM OF MOVEMENT The jersey’s real benefits come into play during the run. The stretchy fabric allows excellent freedom of movement and is highly breathable. For those who opt to swim without a race top underneath a wetsuit, the Free Speed Race Jersey can be put on almost instantly in T1, even with wet skin, thanks to the full-length YKK® Camlock® front zip. SnapLock fasteners at the lower back allow you to attach the back of the jersey to the Free Tri Short to prevent riding up during swim or bike leg. Two rear pockets can hold nutrition or kit options like a vest or arm warmers when not needed. ...

Last weekend Scotsman Fraser Cartmell won the Scottish National Title over the olympic distance. The race was held in Strathclyde Park, Glasgow, which was the venue for the Commonwealth Games triathlon event at Glasgow 2014 last summer. The bike course was run over a challenging course (7 laps for 40k). On the way to success, Fraser wore his customized short-sleeved Free triathlon suit plus a T1:Stealth Top. This combination doesn’t only provide best possible aerodynamics, but is also a great choice for chillier conditions, just like on that day.
