At MSRP €189,95 (£175) the Castelli Free jacket sits bang in the middle of the Italian brand’s range of windproof jackets and is designed for temperatures of between zero and 10ºC. In reality though,  you can extend this range depending on what other pieces of clothing you choose to pair it with. The main body of the jacket is made from Gore Windstopper X-Fast 2 fabric, which, as the name suggests, does an excellent job of stopping the wind. One day prior to Kona race day, we are pleased to announce a new partnership for 2015 with Pewag racing team, Austria’s premier triathlon team. With 7 pro athletes and over 30 elite age group athletes, we are looking to further our support of elite racers as we use their feedback to help make our products even better. Headlining Pewag racing team are Faris Al-Sultan and Marino Vanhoenacker. Faris won the 2005 Ironman World champion and has placed in the top 10 another 8 times in Kona as well as another 8 Ironman victories. Marino has won 11 Ironmans and is looking good to improve on his 2010 podium finish in Kona, and with recent victories in Ironman Canada, IM 70.3 Luxembourg and IM 70.3 Zell-am-See he has recovered from his injury plagued 2013 season. Rounding out the pro roster are Vincent Riess, Flo Kriegl, Daniel Niederreiter, 2014 Trimotion Saalfelden winner Lis Gruber, and Rene Vallant. While the agreement officially begins in 2015, Marino and Faris will debut their Castelli gear on Saturday in the Ironman world championships in Kona. The  30-year-old  Austrian and former short distance triathlete only switched to longer distances for 2014 and already had a good start into the season with a second place at Challenge Rimini in May. At his debut over a long distance triathlon at Ironman Austria (Klagenfurt) he gained 4th place with an impressive time of 8:09:06. It hasn’t been anything but easy already before the race. Ironman is never easy and everyone has some issues once race unfolds. Coming straight from a block of altitude training in Font Romeux, were he sustained a foot injury, he was in doubt about his running capability. “I am delighted with my race and very satisfied with my performance. I surpassed all my expectations. The atmosphere over the day was amazing and it’s a phenomenal feeling receiving so much support at my home race. I really had a superb bike leg, but struggled during the concluding run. With about 20k to go, I got cramps and even wasn’t sure if I’d see the finish. Solely the supportive spectators and fans were crucial to move on till the finish line. The happiness I experienced today is beyond description. Finishing my first Ironman among the best is ...
