SELLE ITALIA Nepal Ti
Jury Verdict
The Nepal Ti is the highlight in the new trail line from the Italian saddle maker. With well- conceived features and a chic design, the saddle entirely won over the jury. In combination with the ID Match System, Selle Italia makes finding the perfect saddle much easier and wants to declare war against postural aches and pains. The mission is clear: more comfort and more fun on your bike. The ID Match System scores points with quick, comfortable, and precise measuring. All the tools necessary are in the kit and the user (the bike shop) is led through the measuring process in a market-leading manner. With this tool Selle Italia offers real added value for consumers and bike retailers alike. Above all, it means you get the right saddle and fewer problems on the trails.
RENTHAL Apex
Jury Verdict
The complex CNC-machined Renthal Apex stem won us over at first sight with its outstanding production quality and classy looks. But it isn’t just the outside that counts, as the technical details are also impressive: at 117 g it isn’t just exceptionally light, but also offers a very well designed clamp which contacts a large section of the bars, thus reducing material stress. This is especially important for sensitive carbon-fibre bars. The Apex stem is available from 40-90 mm in +/- 6 degrees rise.
RACE FACE NEXT SL
Jury Verdict
Love letters from Canada: Race Face’s classy NEXT SL crankset isn’t just one of the lightest you can buy, but is also the most versatile! With their new Cinch System interface you can fit almost any chainring, spider, and bolt circle diameter whilst the 30mm axle is compatible with all relevant frame standards. Race Face has banished the constantly faster, almost hectic product cycles of the bike industry, and with the NEXT SL cranks has produced a product which will be relevant, respected, and sought after in years to come! The simple mounting of the Cinch System and the great style almost become side issues.
MAGURA MT7
Jury Verdict
Good braking power, high reliability, great modulation, and low weight: these are the most important characteristics of a good mountain bike brake. MAGURA’s new MT7 manages to fulfill all of these tasks outstandingly in one well-engineered product. The Carbotech brake levers reduce the weight whilst the well-dimensioned brake caliper gives constant performance, even on long descents. The concept of saving material where it doesn’t affect consistency really works. The brakes have great bite, but also good modulation. Features like a tool-free adjustable brake lever, an adjustable contact point, and magnetic brake pad location also improve usability.
NUKEPROOF Electron EVO
Jury Verdict
“Strong, light, cheap – pick two!“ This sentence is the unwritten rule for bike components. Or at least it was, because the Nukeproof Electron EVO pedals are really shaking up the old bike wisdom. How? Nukeproof have cleverly combined high strength, nylon-reinforced plastic with grippy aluminium pins and a well-dimensioned bearing set. The result is a cheap pedal which makes some of the more expensive competitors look old. And aside from the hard facts, where else can you get pedals in such wonderfully loud colours!
