EVOC Stage 12l
Jury Verdict
With the Stage 12l EVOC introduces a new, highly technical, and well-engineered rucksack to the market for €115! The latest creation from the Munich sport bags specialists scores not only with EVOC’s legendary exceptional workmanship and low weight, but also with a newly developed back part. Complex formed EVA paddings ensure good air circulation even when the pack is full, thus avoiding heat build-up. In order to guarantee optimum fit for all shoulder widths, EVOC has used a machined aluminium connecting part between the pack and shoulder straps, allowing the harness system to automatically fit to the rider. The result is a pack with bomb-proof position on your back – and one which fitted every tester like a glove.
ERGON BE1 Enduro Protect
Jury Verdict
The Ergon BE1 Enduro Protect is a minimalist protector rucksack which stands out from the competition with its two part design. The great fit, low weight, excellent freedom to move, and sufficient storage options make the BE1 a practical companion – both for evening rides and on enduro races. The all-round well executed pack sits flat on your back and offers numerous options for attaching body armor and full face or regular helmets. A special drink bladder developed by Ergon is found in the bottom section of the pack, keeping the centre of gravity low. The ultra-light protector insert has great impact-absorbing values.
ENDURA MTR Baggy Short
Jury Verdict
The new baggy short from Endura’s MTR line is the perfect choice for the wet season! The shorts from the traditional Scottish company are well made and boast numerous sensible features. The comfortable cut is wide enough to give you room to move, but efficiently designed so that the shorts don’t get caught up anywhere. The real secret of the MTR is, however, the stretch material used, which together with the various adjustment options at the waistband ensure a great fit. The robust, waterproof insert on the back keeps out dirt and moisture even on longer rides, but is still thin and not too heavy.
AVADE Black
Jury Verdict
The AVADE heated garment elevates the term “technical” in “technical base-layer” to a whole new level! The Australian brand has combined compact and high performance heating elements with a high-end technical shirt. A quick press of the button on the sleeve spreads out a comforting warmth. The distribution of the heating elements is what we liked most, with the well-cut shirt heating in exactly the places where it makes sense. The whole tech is ably integrated so that wearing the shirt is very comfortable. The only disadvantage: if you lust over the AVADE, you need to be aware that every excuse for no longer riding in freezing temperatures will vanish.
BLISS ARG Vertical LD Day Top
Jury Verdict
Based on the motto “More protection, less ballast,“ the Bliss LD Day Top is a minimalist alternative to the classic bike rucksack. The protection specialists from Oberfranken have done this by combining a spine protector made of impact-absorbing Armourgel with the practicality of four small side pockets providing enough space for your phone, a multi-tool, or the supplied elastic 250ml ‘soft flask.’
Specially designed stretch material ensures a secure hold even with heavy items whilst still offering high comfort. The Bliss LD Day Top can therefore replace a rucksack in many situations yet still improve safety thanks to the built-in back protector. Less weight, more comfort and better safety – what more could you ask for?
