Peter Stetina – Grand Tour debut and Castelli Photoshoot.

The 23-year-old Peter Stetina confirmed that he’s a rider who can have grand tour potential for the future, especially on mountainous courses like this year’s Giro. Stetina rode well in Saturday’s epic stage over the Finestre climb to finish off his first grand tour on a strong 22nd place. “There are just positive signs all the way through. We knew I was capable of a top-20. I think I could have done it, but I lost some time early on because there was no pressure and I was just enjoying the experience of my first Giro,” Stetina said to Castelli. Dan Martin – An Irishman in California.

Before May 2011 Garmin-Cervélo rider Dan Martin had never been to California. His introduction to the state at this year’s Amgen Tour of California gave him a vivid view of the Golden State’s varied terrain and weather. From a 30-degree Tahoe blizzard to raking Central Valley winds to 75-degree Southern California sunshine, the 24-year old Irishman saw California in all its scenic moods.

After Martin had a chance to shower off all the champagne from the squad’s wild team podium celebration in Thousand Oaks, Garmin-Cervélo’s team photographer Mark Johnson caught up with him to collect his thoughts on his first-ever US race, where he placed a very respectable 14th overall.

Millar powers to victory with new aero SpeedSuit

David Millar swept to victory on the 26km time trial course in Milan in 30 minutes, 13 seconds (51.627kph) to claim his first individual stage win at the Italian tour.

If you were fast, you might have noticed some of the new aero details of the BodyPaint SpeedSuit that Millar was wearing yesterday.

Creating clothing for athletes at the highest level of the sport is the most demanding proving ground for Castelli. Millar was not only reaping the benefits of his aero P4 bike and components; he has been the only rider in the Giro wearing a new prototype of the BodyPaint SpeedSuit during the TT stages.

Le-Mével climbs to third overall at Giro

Christophe Le-Mevel (Garmin-Cervélo) climbed into third overall at the Giro d’Italia after another superb performance in what was the first major summit finish in this year’s race.

Le-Mével rose to the challenge of the two-climb ascent of Europe’s most active volcano and crossed the line 11th on the stage and nudged up to third overall as the Giro heads into its first of two rest days Monday. Spanish rider Alberto Contador attacked with about six kilometers to go on the final climb up Etna, which erupted earlier this week to leave a thin layer of dust on the road.
