Andreas Raelert started into the 2015 season with a third-place-finish at the Ironman 70.3 St. George in Utah, USA. The field was absolutely excellent at the Ironman 70.3 North American Pro Championship, and the German was able to run onto the podium in the final half-marathon. Tim Don from Great Britain won the race in Utah in 3:51:56. Don had been third at the Ironman 70.3 World Championship previous year. Canadian Brent McMahon secured second place in St. George (3:53:22), he crossed the line just seconds ahead of Andreas Raelert. The Rostockian followed in 3:53:39 in third place in a very close finish, he was only 17 seconds behind the strong Canadian Brent McMahon. “Overall, I am satisfied with my first race of the season. It was exactly the tough season opener it had expected. Tim Don and Brent McMahon have shown strong performances throughout the whole race.” said Andreas Raelert after his podium-finish. While most of the Castelli sponsored triathletes already had started their season, the 2015 season really gets underway in the next two weeks. This Saturday, the elite will meet at the Ironman 70.3 North American Championship in St. George, Utah. The Castelli scorpion will be represented by the fastest Ironman couple Mirinda Carfrae / Timothy O’Donnell and Andreas Realert. Michael Raelert claimed the victory at the SunSmart Ironman 70.3 Mandurah thanks to an outstanding performance. The 34-year old won the race in Western Australia in 3:35:55 after opening up a decisive gap on the run. Two Australians ranked in silver and bronze position: Tim Reed took second place in 3:38:42 in front of Christian Kemp (3:39:43). “Today, this was a really tough job,” said Michael Raelert, “but the result is absolutely nice. The race was very fast from the start and I felt good. If you can finish an Ironman 70.3 in such a fast time, everything is even better.” Moreover, Michael Raelert seemed to be on the way to improve his own world record in Ironman 70.3 during the final run. Michael Raelert has shown a strong performance at the City Bikes Ironman 70.3 Miami. The 34-year old celebrated a great victory in 3:46:47 which meant an important step on his way back to the top. „I’m really satisfied with my performance today,“ said the Rostockian after the race, „especially, I‘m happy that I have been able to improve on the run.“ Michael Raelert opened up a decisive gap and took the win ahead of Australian Richie Cunningham (3:47:16) and Ukrainian Viktor Zyemtsev (3:48:11). Michael Raelert was one of the dominating athletes right from the start of the race. US-American David Kahn exited the water in first place after 1.9 kilometers in 25:04 minutes just a few seconds ahead of Michael Raelert (25:33).
