BRIT BITS: Works Components – Angleset Headsets
There aren’t that many companies producing these angle changing headsets, so it’s great to think we have one over here in Blighty, that being Works Components in Cannock, West Midlands. These quality headsets are designed and made in the UK, offering head angle degree changes from 1 to 2 degrees, for what seems like most makes and models of bikes. I used the 1.5 degree changer to steepen my head angle when converting the GT from 26″ to 27.5″ and it worked a treat, plus unlike other angleset manufacturers, the bearings in mine are still running smooth as silk.
PRODUCTS TESTED MAXXIS HIGH ROLLER 2
I’v been running these tyres now for around two months on test, but amazingly (for the UK) had to wait till now to finalise the test, with some wet weather stuff. Until recently every ride I have done has been bone dry, so a comparison to other leading brands was not conclusive.
BRIT BITS: Charge Scoop Saddle Tested
After the success of the Knife saddle, Charge have brought out this, their new model called the Scoop, sent to me as part of my future Brit Build bike feature. They come in a variety of colours and are mega comfy, with their unique style and design, optimising the thin, one-piece flexible plastic/nylon base. The hollow titanium (chromo railed version also available) rails are the only piece of the seat base not welded together, very nifty indeed!
First Look: ENVE Twenty9 AM Carbon Wheels
ENVE Composites is known for their high-quality products made in the USA. Based in Ogden, Utah, ENVE develops, produces and assembles bicycle components for road and mountain bikes with a carbon experience of over 30 years. They know what they do! And this is why the give a 5 years warranty on their wheels and lifetime crash replacement. Wow!
BRIT BITS: RENTHAL bar/stem/grip combo
Renthal, coming from Manchester in the heart of England are known for their quality products, but not only are they quality, they also have that unique bling look about them, these Fatbar Lite bars, Lock-on grips and gorgeous looking Duo stem are of no exception. I have been running these now (sent to me as part of my up-coming Brit Build feature) for about two months and they are superb. They have been ridden hard, raced, thrashed and crashed and still look and perform the same as new.
