The first of the final three days sees the race based in Córdoba, surrounded by the town’s ancient architecture. With the incredible start rolling over the Roman bridge, the stage was set for another great day’s racing. It was a familiar tale once the riders reached the finish, it was the Topeak pairings of Hynek / Lakata and Bigham / Leumann who once again took the top spots in both men and women. It wasn’t plain sailing however as Sally Bigham suffered a mechanical which cost the pairing valuable time, they managed to recover and cross the line first to reaffirm their dominant and unbeaten status. Hynek and Lakata sopped the clock on 3:38:11 in front of the Spanish pairing of Juan Pedro Trujillo and Victor Manuel Fernandez. Hynek and Lakata move back to the top of the overall with over a minute of advantage after Ilias and Ferreira dropped nearly two and a half minutes and had to settle for fourth.

We hooked up with UK Enduro’s Neil Delafield for a bit of an insight into the off-season world of a race promoter.
