Garmin-Cervélo Tour de France roster

Hushovd and Danielson

Team Garmin-Cervélo today announced its much-anticipated 2011 Tour de France roster. The squad features world champion Thor Hushovd, Christian Vande Velde, a two-time top-ten finisher, and Tyler Farrar, who has claimed stages at two other Grand Tours and with lead-out man Julian Dean, will be looking to add a third to his list. Ryder Hesjedal, who placed an impressive 7th overall in 2010 returns, as does recently crowned U.S. National Time Trial Champion, David Zabriskie.

David Millar, tour veteran, will feature throughout as a TT expert and rider strong both on the flats and in the mountains. Two riders will be making their Tour de France debut this year: Tom Danielson is coming off strong performances at the Tours of California and Suisse; and Lithuanian National Champion, Ramunas Navardauskas – the team’s youngest rider – rounds out the squad.

Team Garmin-Cervélo 2011 Tour de France Roster:

Tom Danielson (USA)
Julian Dean (NZ)
Tyler Farrar (USA)
Ryder Hesjedal (CAN)
Thor Hushovd (NOR)
David Millar (GB)
Ramunas Navardauskas (LT)
Christian Vande Velde (USA)
David Zabriskie (USA)

“We needed a team that could give us options in the overall but also for stage wins and with this squad, we have that,” said Jonathan Vaughters, CEO, Slipstream Sports. “With such a strong team, and so many riders going so well all season, this was our most difficult Tour selection yet. When you have 15 or 18 riders capable of riding the Tour, it becomes difficult, and its hard to leave guys like Johan home. But, I’m confident that we have found the right mix in this group, and I have absolute faith in these riders. It’s going to be an exciting Tour.”
