How to Use SeasonMatch to Compare PRs

Fast cyclists use effective training. But how do you know if it’s working? Using SeasonMatch to compare PRs gives you proof your training is working every step along the way, rather than waiting for your peak.

What is SeasonMatch?

With Performance Analytics, SeasonMatch is an easy way to prove that your current training is working. That way, you don’t have to wait until the end of a season to see your fitness gains. SeasonMatch compares your power personal records of the current season to the same exact point in another one. For example, if you are three weeks into your current season, you can compare three weeks into a past season. Additionally, you can use custom Seasons to compare growth over multiple years or multiple disciplines with one year.

How do I Use SeasonMatch?

Using SeasonMatch is a simple process. The first step is to create two different seasons on the Personal Records page. Select the two seasons you’d like to compare, then click the SeasonMatch checkbox.

How to use SeasonMatch

SeasonMatch automatically recognizes the number of weeks in each season that you create. Then it compares the PRs at the same point in both seasons.

Compare Seasons Using SeasonMatch

With your custom seasons setup, you can now use SeasonMatch to compare PRs at the same exact point. Let’s take a look at some examples.

2020 Base & 2019 Base

How to Use SeasonMatch 2020 Base & 2019 Base

In this example, we are comparing Base phases from two different years. This athlete has completed five weeks of their most current season. Because SeasonMatch recognizes the number of weeks in each season, we are comparing the first five weeks of each. We can see that the athlete has already improved their power PRs from one season to the next.

2019 Build & 2019 Base

How to Use SeasonMatch 2019 Build & 2019 Base

Here, we are using SeasonMatch to compare the first six weeks of training phases completed one after another. In the first six weeks into the Build phase, this athlete has raised their two-minute power by 30 watts. SeasonMatch shows that the training is working without having to wait until peak fitness.

With SeasonMatch, you can compare any two custom seasons. These are just a few ways that you can use SeasonMatch to see that your hard work is paying off, rather than having to wait until you reach your fitness peak.
