As the thunderclouds packed together, the first riders arrive in Samoens, France for the second Blast Epic Enduro Weekend of 2014. The temperature is hot, the air is humid and we’re all hoping the storm stays in the Morzine valley.

Racing the Big Mountain Enduro is not for the faint of heart or unprepared. But the rewards are so worth it. The climb is a grunt on Day 1 to access the start, which sits in about a remote setting as you can get. And for possibly the first time ever, Stage 2 used the Colorado Trail, which was closed to other users for this event only. Awesome. Day 2 presented the chunky technical goodness on trails Raider Ridge and Carbon Junction, practically in town, making for an early end, with cold beers waiting at Buckley Park.

In the Enduro World Series, the new Devinci Spartan has already caused a stir. Damien Oton succeeded not only a 6th place in Scotland, but also stood on the podium in Valloire with an amazing 2nd place, impressively demonstrating that the newest bike of the Canadian manufacturer is really fast. Recently the German Devinci distributor, “Shocker distribution”, called us to arrange a detailed review. In addition to several tours on our home trails and in the alps, we were keen to test the new Devinci Spartan in a race too.

Manuel Ducci broke his ankle during a practice run for the Enduro World Series race in Scotland. Since then, he recoveres and tries to regain his former strength to continue racing.
