Despite the futuristic name, Lazer has been making helmets since 1919, a time when the great ‘wheel debate’ focused not on 26″ or 27.5″, but whether to put air in tyres or not! The Belgian company now sells helmets to over 50 countries and has now expressed an interest in the trail and enduro sector. You can now spend easily in excess of £150 for a helmet, but Lazer has produced two nice looking helmets for considerably less, and have integrated some neat features. We have been testing the £69.99 Ultrax and £99.99 Oasiz for the last 2 months to see how they perform!

During our visit to the DT-Swiss Headquarters we not only got presented with their nice new Spline Two wheelset (click here), The Swiss guys also showed us their brand new OPM ODL fork and the revised X313 ODL shock. ODL stands for “Open”, “Drive”, “Lockout” and gives the rider the opportunity to adapt his suspension in three steps to the terrain, controlled from the handlebar.

The guys at Stans kindly sent over one of their ever popular 650b alloy rimmed Stans FLOW EX 650b wheel-sets for us to give a good pasting in and around the Shropshire Hills. I personally was running the Hope hubs, clad with the fantastic FLOW EX rims upon the Carbine 29 before the switch to carbon bling (it’s tough being a tester!) Today we present you the lowest priced long-term test bike from this year’s test field – the Cube Fritzz 160 HPA Pro. The bike is the new ride of our permanent tester Flo. Together with Christoph and Vinzenz he is part of our testing team from Garmisch Partenkirchen / south bavaria and will test the bike on the countless alpine trails, located right outside the front door.
