Henrich Haussler, a young talent.

Nickamed the “Racing Kangaroo,” Haussler’s father is German and his mother Australian. He was raised Down Under, but moved to Germany as a junior once he decided to give it a shot to race his bike professionally. He turned pro young with Gerolsteiner in 2005 and quickly won a stage in that year’s Vuelta a España. Since then, he’s collected a handful of wins each season as he slowly developed his sprint. We meet up with Haussler at the team presentation in Portugal. What do you think about your new team? I really like the team, it makes a big difference from making a change. We have Sastre and some climbers for the grand tours, guys for the classics, guys for the sprints. There are some guys to leadout for the sprinters, it’s perfect. You look faster this year, what has changed? I’m training different this year. Years before I was training really long and slow. Milano-Sanremo – Haussler 2nd and Hushovd 3rd

Mark Cavendish (Team Columbia – Highroad) narrowly beat Heinrich Haussler and Thor Hushovd in today’s Milano-Sanremo. Jean-Paul van Poppel, one of the Sports Director’s for todays race commented, “Heinrich started out early to bring Thor into the best position, but he actually went so hard that nobody could hold his wheel at that moment. He slowed down at 100 m and Cavendish was on his way in and just nailed him down within the last 50 m. “It was all in the game where you look for an opportunity in the moment. Except for Cavendish, if Heinrich could have held for one more second, he would have won. Cervélo TestTeam will go to the Tour de France

The Cervélo Pro Cycling TestTeam is participating in the Tour de France 2009. The Amaury Sport Organization (ASO) has announced the wild-card invitations to the 2009 Tour and included the new team in its short list. “That’s extremely good news for us and it is a great honor to get the trust from the Tour de France organizer to be part of the 2009 Tour,” said Thomas Campana, Managing Sport Director. “We are looking forward to defending the title of Carlos Sastre. Castelli 24-hour criterium running June 12 – 13, 2009

The Castelli 24 hour race is packed with action, competition, passion, friendship and non-stop excitement. With 100 teams consisting of 12 riders, the Castelli24H is being staged in the old town of Feltre in the north-east part of Italy. It takes place on June 12-13th, kicking off with fashion show and team presentation before the main endurance event begins at 10pm, with the goal being to complete as many laps as possible within 24 hours. Its a classic style criterium race that has it all; the course is approximately 2 kilometers (1.3 miles) beginning with a steady climb on 400m before descending through some technical corners followed by a 500m stretch of flat road going into the old town of Feltre and the famous cobblestone section.
