Castelli Race Bags collection – first experience

Keeping track of cycling gear when going to a race or training camp can be a hassle. The Castelli race bag collection is constructed from incredibly strong and water resistant materials, smart design, and enough storage space to handle any contingency you might encounter. The new range of luggage has been designed with cyclists in mind. All products in the range feature the company’s striking black and red livery and most have cyclist-specific features. We were sent a Rolling Travel Bag, Rolling Travel Bag XL, Gear Backpack, Gear Dufflebag, an Undersaddle Mini and an Undersaddle XL to check out. ROLLING TRAVEL BAG Castelli describes the Rolling Travel Bag as “perfect for a weekend race trip”. At 35cm x 42cm x 25cm it’s small enough to be considered hand luggage with most airlines but with a capacity of 42 litres it also allows you to store a reasonable amount. The bag features one large internal pocket and one smaller, padded pocket, in addition to an external pocket which contains a pouch for storing your valuables. Castelli highlights at Eurobike 2015

Here’s a rundown by Chris Selden of PEZcyclingnews.com with product news and scenes from the Eurobike show last week, the global cycling industry’s biggest trade show. Castelli have been the masters of wet weather gear for a number of years now with the renowned Gabba jersey and for 2016 they have added a new Gabba model for milder days, the Perfetto Light Short Sleeve. With better breathability, lighter and more easily packable into a jersey pocket when removed but still having great weather protection this is one jersey that is certainly going to be a big hit amongst pros and amateurs alike. Still on the bad weather theme Castelli have introduced a very classy new jacket, the Tempesta Race Jacket. Cut in a similar style to the Gabba this jacket sits very close to the skin and is much more aerodynamic than a standard rainjacket and has been successfully used by the guys at MTN-Qhubeka and Cannondale-Garmin this season. A first experience report on the Castelli Gear Backpack

Usually it’s my girlfriend who gets excited by bags, normally the handbag variety. This time around it was my time to get excited about a bag. Finally after daydreaming and wondering as to when and if Castelli would release a range of luggage, they sprung it on us fans. A strong line up of roller bags for flying, wet bags for storing cycling kit and saddle packs. I was lucky enough to get my hands on one of the Castelli backpacks. And a stunning black and red thing it is too. I was given the bag a few weeks back at the start of the Giro. Since then I’ve had plenty of time to fill it with everything from groceries to the cycling kit that I’m sure it was intended to carry, it had a short but intensive testing from me, being my go to back on every occasion I’ve needed to carry stuff. What I’ve found is that the design team at Castelli have produce a product that hits what a backpack should offer and work like.
