Troy is on a tear! Just .018 up on Gwin means it’s anyone’s game; especially with Remi Thirion as the number one dark horse. Interestingly, aside from Troy and Gwin, everyone else was at least 4 seconds behind them. Barring a DNF, it looks like Gwin has the overall win wrapped up.
In the women’s things were a bit tighter with the top 3 all coming in within the 4:59 mark just fractions of a second apart. Myriam Nicole is back in a big way with Tracey Hannah nipping at her heels but let’s be honest, if Rachel wasn’t hurting from a broken back we likely wouldn’t really even notice. We’ll see if Rach can pull off a perfect season.
In men’s juniors, there’s not much to discuss other than Finn Iles coming in a hair shy of NINE seconds up on everyone. Amazing. After the photos, you’ll find full results at the bottom of the page.
Surprisingly, today revealed the fact that perhaps Rachel is mortal after all.Pom Pon coming in hot and coming back strong with a first place qualifier.The biggest bike on the circuit getting some love. Minnaar’s 27.5″ wheels are so dwarfed by his frame that they look like 24″ wheels. Maxxis Shorty on the front and rear. Cut spikes or Magic Mary seem to be the tire of choice on this track.Luca Shaw has been super consistent this year. 6th today.Just about 9 seconds up on everyone else. If he stays the course, Finn Iles will likely be the future of World Cup DH.Lots of bridges on this track…Mr. Consistent just wasn’t quite there today. Then again, it’s rare that Greg goes all out in Qualies. 10th place.Uh oh….Loic went down. he’s young and resilient so he’ll surely strap it up and have a good result tomorrow.Easily one of the most exciting riders on the track. Mutant cornering skills as exemplified here.Marcelo Gutierrez cruised into 23rd. He was so consistent last year. Did he slow down or has everyone else sped up?Mick Hannah snaking around (padded) trees.Mark Wallace, doin it for Stevie.Remi Thirion is the dark horse on this track. He’s won at home before. It was his only win in his career but it was by a large margin and he knows how to turn it on at home.Gwin. Such a savage. He most likely has more in the tank for tomorrow. We’ll see.Hell of a week for Troy Brosna so far. The track and conditions suit him and he’s having fun. It would be great to see him snag a win before the season wraps up.…the pressure mounts for tomorrow…
