Yeti Cycles VIDA MTB Series 2018 schedule announced
Editor’s Note: Arguably the premier women’s MTB skills clinic series in North America is back for another year, this time boasting seven events. Here’s a full rundown on the series and what you can expect in 2018.
Every year, we continue to grow our community. We meet locals, women from out of state, and women who have traveled from afar. Each brings their unique energy and enthusiasm to the sport. As we enter our sixth year of producing women’s mountain bike clinics we are excited to forge new opportunities to broaden experiences on and off the bike, and cultivate long-lasting, meaningful community connections.
We have watched the growth of women in mountain biking evolve from women entering the sport for the first time, to women seeking out experiences that expand upon their skillsets and new places to ride. The VIDA community is full of strong, hard-charging women who are eager to share the gift and passion of mountain biking with others, and we are so proud and humbled to work, teach and learn with all of them.
We are excited to release our 2018 lineup with unparalleled locations in the heart of the Rocky Mountains, with Yeti Cycles returning as title sponsor and new sponsors Vittoria Tires, Ergon Bikes, and Noosa Yoghurt coming on board. Returning sponsors include Smith Optics, Stan’s NoTubes, Skratch Labs and Wild Balance Jewelry. Our sponsors provide you with the highest quality gear to help you tackle terrain wherever your ride takes you.
Registration is open for all 2018 clinics. We look forward to the many events, adventures, and “ah-ha” moments ahead. Be sure to check out our website at www.vidamtb.com for the latest news, events and stories.
Season Preview
The VIDA MTB Series continues its four-year streak as the women’s hub of the Sedona MTB Festival in Sedona, Ariz., March 2-4, offering a one-day clinic on Saturday and additional activities throughout the festival weekend including yoga, tech talks and group rides, open to all festival attendees to join. The one-day clinic format will allow festival attendees the opportunity to gain skills and confidence with a coach on Saturday, and shred singletrack with their friends and family on Friday and Sunday. A three-day festival pass is included in clinic registration— a $100 value.
VIDA’s next stop is in Boulder, Colo. on May 12. Valmont Bike Park has been a cornerstone to the VIDA clinic schedule, and this year will offer a one-day clinic in conjunction with the Sports Garage Front Range Demo Day. Participants will have access to the full gamut of vendors to test bikes and gear as they session features and tracks in a small-group format throughout the park.
The 9th Annual Yeti Beti Bike Bash takes center stage a few weeks later, June 2-3, 2018, with VIDA hosting a one-day clinic on Saturday for women to learn fundamental skills and race strategy prior to race day.
VIDA changes gears as it heads into the high country for the remainder of its summer clinics. For the third year running, VIDA returns to Trestle Bike Park, June 23-24 and Snowmass Bike Park, August 4-5. Weekend clinics are filled with lift-accessed and trail riding all day long, on top of healthy meals, yoga, tech talks, and happy hour socializing. Taking your feedback to heart, multi-day clinics will see even more opportunities to gather and learn.
VIDA will partner with Big Mountain Enduro for their season finale in Snowmass, Colo. to culminate the From Rider to Racer Program presented by Wheat Ridge Cyclery. Women will have the opportunity to sign up for a stock two-day clinic or one-day clinic/one-day race experience. The program will officially launch March 2018.
VIDA will make a special appearance at the Yeti Tribe Gathering, an exclusive event for owners of Yeti bikes, July 2018.
VIDA heads towards the San Juans with our new two day clinic in Durango, Colo., August 25-26. Spend your days with a mix of lift-accessed downhill riding at Purgatory Resort and endless cross country trail riding opportunities. Use the evenings to join happy hour, relax with yoga and tech talks, and spend time getting to know the gal pals you met on the trail.
Under the banner of VIDA Adventures which started in 2015, riders will have the option to add-on two additional days riding in the surrounding backcountry. Additional information and sign-ups coming soon!
The seventh and final clinic of the season will circle VIDA back home to the Golden Giddyup, a community-sponsored bike event based out of Golden, Colo. VIDA will host a one-day clinic on September 15, with $15 from each clinic registration going directly back into the trail stewardship program.
