Wren Sports delivers advanced fat bike suspension

Don’t tell the guys at Wren Sports that fat bikes are just for sand or snow. They’ve developed an inverted suspension fork made specifically for fatties, enabling the big wheeled behemoths to rip downhill on any trail surface.
Based in Vallejo, California, Wren Sports was at the Sea Otter Classic showing off their beautifully ball burnished, Wren-equipped Foes Mutz fat bike, which kind of looks like a motorcycle without the motor.

Similar to the design of a motorcycle suspension fork, the Wren forks use 36mm keyed stanchions to prevent twist, while sporting a thick axle with 135mm or 150mm spacing. And the inverted design puts the stanchions on the bottom, reducing the lower mass of the fork to make it more responsive to the trail. The beefed up crown and 43mm uppers provide the strength and torsional rigidity.
Wren also just launched an 150mm travel model. Wren also claims their forks work great in cold weather, something you cant say about all the fat bike-specific suspension forks. All Wren forks have fully adjustable rebound and compression on the oil side, and there is a rider accessible dial to make compression adjustments on the fly, including lockout.

But the true beauty of Wren’s forks is their ease of disassembly and serviceability. Russ Johnson of Wren stood in front of me and disassembled the internals of the fork in just a couple minutes, showing off the beautiful simplicity of these highly functional forks including the new TwinAir air spring. Wren forks come in a range of sizes and different steering tube configurations with prices starting at $650.
