Woom 1 Plus 14″ balance bike launched

 Woom 1 Plus

Claimed weight for this new balance bike is 9.81 pounds and it’s designed for riders from 3-4.5 years old who are 37-43″ tall.

With the goal of helping kids discover the joy of riding bikes, Austria’s Woom offers some of (if not the) lightest little people bikes on the market. Last year, Mtbr reviewed the 16-inch Woom 3 and loved it, awarding a 4.5-out-of-5 rating. Now Woom has two new intriguing offerings, the Woom 1 Plus balance bike and the Woom Helmet.

Which brake lever won’t toss you over the bars? The green one!

As the name implies, the Woom 1 Plus is a larger (14″ vs 12″) version of their balance bike that’s targeted at taller or older neophyte riders and children with special needs, specifically 3-4.5 years old who are 37-43″ tall. Claimed weight is 9.81 pounds. Features include the surfboard footrest, color coded brake levers, and five color options – red, green, blue, purple, and yellow. The new bike will start shipping the first week of June. Price is $269.

It’s also worth noting Woom’s UpCycle program where they will buy back your used Woom bike at 40% of cost within 2 years of purchase and apply that credit towards purchase of the next size up. They now have seven models in all, ranging from the 12″ balance bike all the way up to the Woom 6 with 26-inch wheels. The returned pre-owned bikes are used for non-profit riding clinics around the U.S.

 Woom Kid's Helmet

Bug netting up front will help keep the bees at bay.

Also new at Sea Otter was the Woom Helmet, which was the culmination of a two-year development project that netted a well-ventilated kid’s specific head protector that features modular interior padding to better dial in fit. There’s also a soft visor, easy-to-use magnetic chinstrap clip, bug netting, and an oversized ratcheting closure system for improved fit.

The new Woom helmet will come in four colors and has a magnetic chinstrap buckle.

It also has oversized ear loops to further enhance comfort and fit. The helmet will be available in four colors: red, blue, green and yellow, with purple soon to follow. It will initially be offered in just one size (medium) with small and large to come. It will begin shipping in June. Price is $69.
