Video: Olly Wilkins, speed of sound

There are very few rider who have the same trail riding and dirt jumping ability as DMR Product man, Olly Wilkins.

There are very few rider who have the same trail riding and dirt jumping ability as DMR Product man, Olly Wilkins.

We first met Olly Wilkins peddling DMR pedals and other goodies at their booth at the Sea Otter Classic. We chatted about local trails and the unassuming Brit said he’d love to give it a go.

Later that week, we saw Olly at our local Santa Cruz trails with his pal Brendan Fairclough. We’ve never seen a pair of riders have as much fun together as these two as they attacked each new trail with exuberance and flair.

We later saw some video on one of our most difficult trails as Brendan created lines and jumps that did not exist before. We marveled at Brendan’s ability until we realized that it was all filmed by a rider only a few feet behind him. Olly matched Brendan at every inch of the trail and every jump into the unknown. We then later realized how good a rider Olly really was. Here is a glimpse at his speed and style.

Olly Wilkins… man, myth, pick-up truck driver. When it comes to hustling a trail bike through finely-crafted English trails, both wheels barely on the ground at once, there are few riders who can do it with as much style or aplomb as Olly.

But that’s not where his roots lie, oh no. Now a product designer for legendary UK firm DMR Bikes, Olly’s riding began on the dirt jumps and trails around the outskirts of London. So we thought where better to take the latest Sound of Speed episode than to the Surrey Hills for a typically noisy day with the man Wilkins himself.
