It’s been a great year for TOGS. Six 2017 national champions earned their stars and stripes jerseys while using the innovative thumb over grip system. And feedback from these elite-level rides has helped the Utah-based company enhance and improve its products.
For the uninitiated, TOGS mount inside your grips and provide a comfortable control point on top of your handlebars that adds multiple hand positions. This is especially beneficial for people with hand or wrist issues, but can be useful for any rider seeking to maximize their cycling experience.
New this year is the TOGS Flex model, which has three key changes from previous offerings. No. 1 is a 17-degree rotation that improves the ergonomic position of the rider’s thumb and wrist while riding. This increased forward rotation also facilitates other hand positions such as the cross where you hook your index finger, which helps stretch the forearm.
The installation process has also been streamlined with the new Flex model. Due to the flexible nature of the new TOG, you simply spread and snap the device onto your bars without the need to remove your grips. Then insert and tighten the small fastening bolt and off you go. Lastly, TOGS is employing a softer rubber overlay with flexible tip, which increases overall comfort and adds a small amount of shock absorption.
