These limited edition Specialized models will change color throughout the Rio Olympics
The Rio Olympics are kicking off later this week and to celebrate, Specialized has created a limited edition range of bikes and gear. They’re coated in a thermocolor paint that changes colors at 71 degrees Fahrenheit/22 degrees Celsius and whose palette was inspired by the Olympic torch.

At cooler temperatures, the components are a creamy red. But as temperatures heat up to the daily average in Rio, the paint slowly shifts to a stunning yellow. Hit play above to preview the stunning transition.
The three frames available with this Olympic inspired paint scheme are the Specialized Epic-FSR, Tarmac, and Amira. The Specialized S-Works Evade helmet also received the custom treatment.
Athletes from all over the world will be competing using this kit, including the Czech Republic’s Jaroslav Kulhavy and the USA’s Lea Davison. Want one of your own? Specialized has a limited number of frames and complete bikes available for us mere mortals to purchase.
In addition to frames and helmets, Specialized is also offering a range of cycling apparel and shoes sporting the fiery themed paint scheme, although they don’t have any special color changing properties.
You can view the entire collection at www.specialized.com.
