Sea Otter: iXS’s new Sever back country shorts and new brand ambassador

iXS was at the Sea Otter Classic showing their all new shorts called the Sever. We also checked out some of their current products and also learned of their new signing of Eric Carter as brand ambassador and racer.

The Sever is all new from iXS and it is part of their backcountry line. It is made from a 3-way stretchable material (called ErgoStretch) with laser cut holes (AirAtion) for ventilation in the crotch area. It has nice and secure snap buttons with side adjust Velcro for fit. It is nice and lightweight and has iXS’s DWR coating for water resistance. It comes in 5 sizes (SM, MD, LG, XL, XXL) and 2 colors (grey or black) with a retail price of $109.95.
The official description of the Sever shorts from iXS reads,”Sever shorts are an ideal companion in rough terrain. Developed for freeride action and tours off the beaten track that test the bike’s suspension travel to the full, Sever shorts offer a superlative fit, robust materials, vented inserts an adjustable waistband and pockets that will hold all the essentials. The stretch material ensures a high level of comfort and also copes superbly well with erratic terrain.”
Also on display at Sea Otter were the Evus jersey and Viad shorts. The Evus jersey is made from a breathable, moisture wicking material with UV protection. It has a side vent mesh material with a media pocket in back with a loop near collar for ear buds. The Evus jersey has iXS’s ShieldWipe material on the inside for wiping your sunglasses or goggles and the fit is a relaxed/regular fit. It comes in 5 sizes (SM, MD, LG, XL, XXL) and 3 colors (black with blue, lime or red) with a retail price of $59.95.
The Viad shorts are a more traditional style MTB short with a rear rear stretch panel, breathable, quick dry material and 2 zippered hand packets. It comes in 5 sizes (SM, MD, LG, XL, XXL) and 2 colors (blue or black) with a retail price of $89.95.

Eric Carter Joins the Gravity Cartel
The Gravity Cartel (the US sales and service office for Spank Industries and iXS Protective gear) has signed Pro racer Eric Carter. “EC” will be racing on Spank components and iXS helmets, pads and clothing for this year as well as being an ambassador to the brands at events throughout the southern California area and beyond. Eric will also be helping the brands with R&D testing on new products that are in the works from both companies.
Victor Sandrin the Gravity Cartel US Sales Manager, said “I have known of Eric through racing for a long time, and on a more personal level for the past 3 years, and he is the ultimate pro! Always willing to talk to fans, give advice to young racers and is a great ambassador to the sport. When we started talking more about him riding for us I could tell he understood the business side of this sport better than most and what brands need from a guy like him. I am really excited to bring him on board and have his help in building the brand awareness in the SoCal market, as well as input on new product coming down the pipeline!
