Sea Otter Classic Announces Multi-year Partnership with Subaru

The Sea Otter Classic announced today its multi-year partnership with Subaru for the annual springtime event. Subaru’s commitment to partnering with organizations that reflect its owners’ active lifestyles, love of the outdoors, and involvement in the community is supported by Sea Otter’s own commitment to serving the people who share these values.

“We are thrilled to be part of the Sea Otter Classic,” said Tim Tagye, Subaru promotions and sponsorships manager. “The event draws like-minded attendees who are passionate for cycling and outdoor activities making it a perfect fit for the Subaru brand. In fact, nearly half of all Subaru owners participate in cycling activities.”

Subaru’s zero-landfill manufacturing process, which means that Subaru has not sent any waste to landfills – that all waste is either recycled or turned into electricity, also aligns with Sea Otter’s responsible environmental stewardship. Sea Otter is committed to reducing the event’s ecological impact on its venue at the Laguna Seca Recreation Area and the adjacent Bureau of Land Management (BLM) property, and other parts of the community.

“Subaru defines a culture that is a perfect fit with Sea Otter,” said Frank Yohannan, president and CEO of the Sea Otter Classic. “There is considerable cross-over in our respective markets and business philosophies. We both support outdoor enthusiasts who have a deep respect for the environment and actively support their communities. Our partnership offers an opportunity to combine our mutual efforts to positively impact the people we serve.”

For the 2014 Sea Otter Classic, Subaru vehicles will serve as pace cars. Subaru is also presenting new events activities including a movie night and a family fun ride. Sea Otter will complement these activities with its popular Gran Fondo rides for both road cyclists and mountain bikers, free morning yoga, and a range of events for kids.
