Sea Otter: ABUS Brooklyn Chain with Titalium Padlock
I talked with Collin Myers of ABUS at Sea Otter to check out what was new. I’ve previously covered the ABUS new commuter helmets and GRANIT 640 u-lock as well as the ABUS Ultra 410 locks.
The ABUS Brooklyn Chain was designed in Brooklyn but made in Germany. The loop chain and padlock combination provides a high level of security (rated 12 out of 15 on ABUS’s scale) at a solid price. The Titalium Padlock features a solid lock body made of aluminum alloy that offers a higher security rating at a lighter weight (Mysers told us that the chain/padlock combo is “light enough to be worn around the waist.”) ABUS claims that the Titalium padlcoks are approximately 30% lighter than traditional brass padlocks with at least the same level of security, if not more. The 10mm chain has a square profile to take away leverage for cutters. The nylon covering protects your bike from scratches and the loop design makes it easy to adjust and use as a long chain or to loop around a post.
Features of the ABUS Brooklyn Chain are:
- Open 10mm/120 cm hardend steel loop chain
- Fabric sleeve prevents damage to frame and paint job
- 80/TI50 TITALIUM Padlock features a solid lock body made from TITALIUM aluminum alloy offering higher security at a super light weight
- Hardend steel shackle with NANO PROTECT coating
- High precision 6 pin key cylinder
- Two keys supplied with lock
- 120cm (3.9ft) in length
The ABUS Brooklyn Chain and lock are available now from your local ABUS dealer. The MSRP is $99.99.
