Review: Bell Stoker Helmet

Overview
The Bell Stoker is one of the surprise gems of this Helmet Shootout. It wins by sticking to core values and carefully choosing what NOT to offer.
By making all the right choices, the Stoker comes out with a simple yet attractive and functional helmet. It ventilates suprisingly well and it is 328 grams light and only $70.
Fit, Pads and Retention System
Pads are the nice Coolmax type and are present on the halo retention system and on the on the helmet shell. The shell could benefit from a little more padding. The retention sytem is a good system with a big notched rubber wheel on the back for easy adjustment. The height of the rear head cradle is adjustable as well. Straps hang off the sides of the shell and are thus out of the way.
Ventilation
Ventilation doesn’t look or sound like much at only 13 holes but it actually works very well. The reason is the holes are fairly big and well positioned. There’s two ‘L’ shaped holes right in the front and they port a lot of air in at speed. Inside, there’s three brow ports that let air in and most important, there’s channels in the helmet that allow air to flow throw, unobstructed by the rider’s head.
In the Mtbr ventilation test, this helmet was in the top 25% of helmets in terms of ventilation.
