Pimp My Ride: Jamis Dakota Team XC racer
Tony Hergert is the defending Master’s Marathon Champion in the National Ultra Endurance Series. His race bike is a gorgeous Jamis Dakota Team hardtail. Out of the box, it weighed a ridiculous 20 pounds. To eke out more speed, he added a full ENVE cockpit and a set of ENVE 50 rims laced to Industry 9 hubs with bladed spokes.
With all the go-fast parts sorted, Hergert turned to the aesthetics. The inspiration for his build is the Rescue Racing Team. This organization raises money for the Charles Smithgall Humane Society, a no-kill shelter in Sautee Nacoochee, Georgia. They also work to raise awareness for spay/neutering programs, microchip implants, and to remind everyone to adopt don’t shop.
To help convey this message, he worked with the crew at STIKRD on custom paw and bone themed decals. Scroll through to admire his build.
Hergert’s build started life as a team edition Dakota. This 2017 model came stock with a SRAM Eagle drivetrain, Fox’s lightweight Step-Cast fork, and Shimano XTR brakes. Hergert pimped it out even further by adding ENVE cockpit components and wheels.
