News: RedMonkey Klampz lock on silicone grips now available
I first heard about RedMonkey Sports and their silicone grips back at the Sea Otter Classic when their Karv was on display. Now, they are back at it with a new lock-on grip called the Klampz. The company itself is based in Orange County, CA and they manufacturer the grips locally. Another cool thing about RedMonkey is that they donate a portion of all sales to a host of cycling charities. For sales of their Camo styled grips, 50% of the profit goes directly to various PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder) affected American Veterans.
RedMonkey Sports is led by former BMX racer and Orange County native Michael Nasco and their products are all designed with rider comfort in mind.
RedMonkey Klampz features:
- Dual Locking Clamp Design
- Tight Fit, No Slip
- Tacky Texture
- Weather Resistant Silicone
- High Vibration Dampening Compound
- Fits 22.2mm MTB Bars
- Length: 130mm
- Weight: 113 grams per set (including bar ends)
- Comes In Presentation Box with Red Anodized Allen Key
Colors coming soon are: Red, Pink, Purple, Orange, and Brown. Clamp colors are Black, Blue, Purple, Green, Orange, Red, and Pewter. MSRP is a very affordable $28.00.
Our Take
The RedMonkey Karvs we tested were very comfortable, easy to install and durable. We look forward to testing some of the new Klampz, but we expect them to be of the same quality. It’s great to see a small company that is able to manufacture their product right here in the U.S. and even better when they clearly care about giving back to the cycling community and the American Veteran community.
