In the Queue: A look at what’s new in Mtbr’s review hopper
Both online and in person, people always ask us what we’re working on next. It’s a good question, so starting this week, we’ll be giving Mtbr readers a weekly peek at some of the bikes and gear we’ve got on deck for testing. Without further adieu, here’s this week’s selections…
2015 Trek Lush Carbon 27.5
Contributor Kris Gross has been putting the 2015 Trek Lush Carbon 27.5 through its paces on trails across California and Arizona. Look for her take on it in the next couple weeks.
Absolute Black Oval Narrow/Wide Chainring
Absolute Black promises us their new, oval narrow/wide 1x chainrings are nothing like Biopace—and they make a pretty good case. We’ll be mounting this one up to find out.
American Classic Wide Lightning 29 Tubeless Wheelset
Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water, now we gotta argue about rim widths. The new American Classic Wide Lightning 29 sports an air-volume increasing internal width of 29.3mm which is said to markedly improve tire performance. We’ll be mounting these babies up in the next couple week to see if wider really is better.
Gates Carbon Belt Drive System
Silent, nearly maintenance-free, and long wearing, the Gates Carbon Drive Belt System might just be the 1×1 drivetrain Holy Grail. Our Angry Singlespeeder checks-in next week with a long-term test.
Cleary Bikes Owl – 20-inch Kid’s Mountain Bike
You may not have heard of Cleary Bikes, but your kid already wants their Owl mini mountain bike. We put our micro test rider on it to see if Santa should be adding it to his list.
Magellan Cyclo 505 GPS Cycle Computer
We got our first look at the Magellan Cyclo 505 GPS cycle computer back at Interbike and now have a test unit in-house. So far, its ease-of-use and price make it appealing…stay tuned to see if it has the features and performance to match or better the competition.
