But with a little practice you can be turning like a boss and master cornering on loose terrain. Okay, let’s recap. Here are four key tips to master cornering on loose terrain:
1. Set your speed on the approach: This simply means that you need to brake early and get down to your desired speed before entering the turn. Once into the turn, let off the brakes and let your bike arc through.
2. Set-up wide: As you’re coming into a turn on unpredictable loose terrain, set-up wide to allow for a big smooth arcing turn. By taking a wide line you’ll be better able to maintain control going in and coming out of the turn.
3. Stand up and point: As you approach the turn, rise out of your saddle and with your knees and arms slightly bent, point your hips in the direction of the turn.
4. Look where you want to go: And of course always keep your head up and look through the entire turn. Your bike will follow.
