Eurobike 2015: Manitou McCleod King Can shock tuning
Having announced their biggest fork news already at the Sea Otter Classic, Manitou still has some news. With the King Can you can now tune your standard McCleod rear shock and get a premium performance upgrade.
McCleod King Can
Manitou offers the possibility to further tune your McCleod rear shock – just swap your standard can with the dual King Can and get a more linear spring curve for longer travel bikes. The dual can provides better mid-stroke support without limiting full travel and is very sensitive off the top of the stroke for small bump performance. The can is user serviceable. Users can even add volume spacers to the can gives an even higher tunability.
Better spring linearity – appropriate for longer travel and progressive rate bikes
The standard single air can at 80 psi has a similar bottoming force to the dual air can at 140 psi. However, the early-to-mid-stroke range has much more support with the larger volume system. This will provide better mid-corner support vs. ramping up the compression damping, while preserving sensitivity.
Manitou’s trail tip
“Use the right tool for the job. The King Can might be the right solution, but it might not be”. If your bike has a rising ratio (falling rate) you should be using King Can so that your wheel loads are linear and you can use full travel.
