Eurobike 2013: Met Parabellum Enduro Helmet

There’s a lot of Enduro or All Mountain helmets coming in to the market now. We’re happy to see Met come in, as we love their styling, venting and lightweight construction found in their other helmets. True to form, the Parabellum fulfills all those requirements with its attractive design. Venting is quite generous as well, compared to others in this category. They have a few safety features like HES construction, adjustable height and anti-allergenic pads.

In the area of safety, Met has the HES construction. This involves embedding a homothetic skeleton at the back of the helmet, which spreads the pressure built up by compression at the impact point, and thus dissipating the force of impact over the whole shell. Also, the head retention system includes a vertical adjustment to position precisely where the helmet touches the head. Thanks to the broader and lighter contact area, the pressure on the head is distributed throughout the shell for added comfort.

The tilt of the visor can be adjusted by loosening anodized aluminium side screws, while the entire visor has integrated air intake vents that integrate with the ones of the helmet’s. For extra comfort, the manufacturer installed an anti-allergenic front pad, which absorbs perspiration rather than sending it towards the sides of the face. With features like superior hygiene, a longer lifespan, a natural capacity to adapt to body shape, its thickness remaining stable over time, the GEL O2 front pad offers many advantages.

If you have a GoPro or other POV camera, Met has designed the MOPOV (My Own Point Of View) kit which allows you to fit your onboard camera onto your helmet easily.

The Parabellum will be available in two sizes, M and L, from November 2013 at the recommended retail price of €160,00/£140,00. We estimate the US pricing to be around $200. Weight is 270 grams.
