Eurobike: 11 awesome pro race-ridden booth bikes
Manufacturers love to show off the bikes of their sponsored riders fresh from the races, and Eurobike is a great excuse to do so. This gallery gives you a glimpse of some of the top pro’s race-used bikes that were on show at Messe Fredrischafen.
Danny Hart’s Giant Glory 27.5 Prototype
If watching Danny Hart’s //www.youtube.com/watch?v=EqYgAX6D43Q
target=”_blank”>2011 world championship win doesn’t give you goose bumps you might just be dead. And though he’s yet to top a world podium since, the young rider from the UK is a serious contender for the rainbow stripes at this year’s championships in Norway next weekend. The 27.5-inch wheel Giant Glory he’ll be running is a direct descended of this proto Giant displayed at Eurobike.
Nino Schurter’s SCOTT Spark and Scale
Swiss rider Nino Schurter is hugely popular in Europe both because of his riding steeze and sheer speed.Three world championships and a pair of World Cup titles to his credit don’t hurt either. SCOTT spiffed up their trade show booth with one of the world championship-liveried Spark dual suspension bikes he uses for rougher courses. Schurter also runs SCOTT’s hardtail Scale when conditions allow, and we got a peek at one of those (below) when we stopped by SCOTT’s Fribourg, Switzerland office after the show.
Peter Sagan’s Cannondale SuperSix Evo
The custom paint job on Peter Sagan’s Cannondale SuperSix Evo is as colorful as its rider’s antics both on and off the bike. Though he’s known as a sprint powerhouse, the multi-talented Sagan has shown some true versatility the last couple seasons, winning races that belie such pigeonholes. His bike handing skills have also surfaced as another facet of his riding acumen, both on //www.youtube.com/watch?v=bM9Eh2uQ7Ek

John Tomac’s Yeti C-26
Sure, Yeti could have easily rolled out one of Jared Graves Enduro World Series winning rigs, but instead they decided to pay homage to their deep racing heritage, showing off vintage C-26 from the greatest mountain biker of all time, John Tomac. Kudos to Yeti for continuing to push the sport’s envelope forward while using its history for inspiration.
Marcus Kaufmann’s Centurion
Neither Markus Kaufmann nor Centurion are household names when it comes to racers and bikes, but the German is a much feared in European ultra-distance events and has the 2013 and 2014 Transalp titles to prove it. Centurion once had a presence in the US (Dave Scott anyone?), but is a rare find these days.
Lars Boom’s Bianchi Infinito SL
With its inordinately wet weather, this year’s Tour de France was spring Classics-like than the actual Classics. And it all played to the advantage of Dutch strongman Lars Boom who powered away on this very Bianchi Infanito SL to take the victory on a wet and cobbled stage 5.
Jerome Clementz’ Cannondale Jekyll
Sadly, Jerome Clementz’ Cannondale Jekyll stood immaculately clean in the Cannondale booth at Eurobike. Its spotlessness a byproduct of a season-ending crash that sidelined the defending Enduro World Series champion for most of the season. Here’s hoping we see Jerome’s bike dirty and tattered in Cannondale’s 2015 booth.
Guido Tschugg’s Ghost DH 9000
Euro pro downhiller Guido Tschugg’s Ghost DH 9000 highlighted a distributor’s booth at Eurobike. Ghost is one of many surprisingly large bike brands in Germany with a huge product line and deep race team presence.
Ramunas Navardauskas’ Cervelo R5
Lithuanian rider Ramunas Navardauskas scored a stunning breakaway win on this bike on stage 19 of the 2014 Tour de France. Cervelo celebrated Navardauskas’ victory at Eurobike by displaying the bike and introducing a second-generation limited production RCA frameset that costs a whopping $10,000.
Hector Paez’s Bianchi Methanol SL
As much as we liked Columbian rider Hector Leonardo Paez Leon’s beautiful Methanol SL in Bianchi’s booth (above), the all celeste green 2015 version of the bike we saw at Demo Day (below) had us salivating.
