Best known for helping to jumpstart the move to wide and (relatively) affordable carbon rims, Derby is now tackling the plus sized market. Their newest rim has a 44mm inside width, 50mm outer, 34mm depth, and has a claimed weight of 530 grams. They’re designed to work best with tires from 2.8” to 3.2”. However, Derby says you can go both narrower or wider. Retail is $495 per rim and they’re expecting the first batch to ship in late spring.

Derby has also worked with their factory do a run of 120 rims they’re calling Select Limited. These rims have a gloss finish with a subtle pinstripe along the perimeter across the spoke holes. It’s really hard to do the end result justice in the harsh lighting conditions at Sea Otter, but the final effect is stunning in person. The rims retail for $635 each, a $200 premium over regular models.

Also new are a set of 23mm wide 700c rims intended for gravel grinding or cyclocross use. The new wheels are disc specific and have a hooked bead that’s designed for tubeless only beaded tires. They’ll be available in 24-, 28-, and 32-spoke hole versions when final testing is completed. Claimed weight per rim is 430 grams. Price is $429.
