Crankbrothers Double Shot 1 pedal launched
Ever considered trying flat pedals, but were leery due to price and/or commitment? Well, crankbrothers is making the decision a little easier with the launch of its budget priced Double Shot 1 hybrid pedals.
Featuring molded traction pins for grip, wide 57mm q-factor for clearance and control, and durable stamped-steel wings, the Double Shot 1 gives riders the option to ride flat or clipped-in. Price is just $60 per set.
Key features include a diamond plate traction area on the clip-in side, molded traction ribs and pins on the flat side, and a reasonable 331g per set weight. They also some with a 5-year warranty.
The Double Shot 1 pedals utilize Enduro cartridge bearings that are designed specifically for pedals where speed is low and torque is high. This improves corrosion resistance and tightens tolerances for a precise fit.
Igus LL-glide bearing made exclusively for crankbrothers claim an 8x performance improvement in lab testing, and up to 74x better performance in their most aggressive in-house lab testing when exposed to adverse conditions.
The pedals also incorporate a double seal system that prevents water and debris from entering the pedal. Crankbrothers says this has been lab tested and ride proven in extreme conditions, prevents contamination and extending the life of the pedals. Color choices are red, black, and blue, and you can also upgrade to the Double Shot 2 ($90) and Double Shot 3 ($125), which feature similar functionality.
