Coolest Interbike Bike: Otis Guy’s Vintage Repack Racer
Mountain bikes weren’t always so complicated.
Remember that Fat Chance Mtbr spotted at Interbike a few weeks back? Well, that wasn’t the only cool bike hanging out at the Marin Museum of Bicycling booth. This vintage Schwinn was also kicking around.
They don’t make head badges like they used to.
While the head badge reads Texas Special, this is in fact a Schwinn Excelsior. To the casual observer, it may look like a rolling tetanus hazard, but this was once Otis Guy’s Repack racer.

A truss fork up front provided small bump compliance. Not sure about big hits.
These Uniroyal “knobbies” were the off-road tire of the time.
