Are these the perfect cycling socks?

Gore Fiber Bike Socks

These socks from Gore are claimed to move sweat away from your skin via a microporous network, and be more durable than standard socks.

We don’t usually get overly excited about cycling socks. If you can find a match in your dresser drawer it’s a win. But these new Gore Fiber bike socks could change all that.

Utilizing a material known as ePTFE (or expanded polytetrafluoroethylene if you really want to nerd out), these socks are claimed to move sweat away from your skin via a microporous network. At the same time the ePTFE fibers improve durability. Think no more holes in the toes.

To better understand ePTFE, Gore points to deep sea and space applications. It’s used in deepwater installation of subsea hardware, and data cables with ePTFE have supported deep space flights. Heady stuff for a simple pair of socks. The wonder material is also found in everyday objects such as dental floss, boating sails, cell phone protectors, and outdoor upholstery.

A metatarsal gripper belt is designed to keep the socks in place.

Besides ePTFE, the socks are made up of a blend of Merino fibers, and have a metatarsal gripper belt that’s designed to keep them in place. Other highlights include compression support, a supportive arch, and flat seams. Gore also claims they won’t shrink if you leave them in the dryer a little too long.

The Gore Fiber bike socks come in short, mid and long crew lengths. Price is $26. For more info head over to www.goreapparel.com.
