2017 Leogang DH World Cup highlights
After the last two World Cup Downhill races were affected by rain, it was a relief to see sunny conditions in Leogang this past weekend.
On the women’s side, Rachel Atherton has been sidelined by a shoulder injury sustained in practice at Fort William. With the reigning champ out of contention, the women’s field has been blown wide open. This weekends race was decided by milliseconds, but Tahnee Seagrave was able to tough it out for her first ever World Cup DH win.
In the men’s field, the times were incredibly close until the Santa Cruz Syndicate pulled away on their V10 29ers. For a few tense minutes, it looked as if Loris Vergier might take his first win but then Aaron Gwin came flying. He’s now won three races in a row at this venue, while also proving that little wheels can still win races.
